If the online versions do not meet your needs, you can purchase a Microsoft Office 365 subscription through Microsoft. When it is detected that your license can no longer activate Office 365 apps, such as the Excel example below, there will be an indication that the product needs to be renewed at the top of the app window and a yellow banner beneath the toolbar. The Office 365 desktop apps will verify your license level whenever your computer is online. Once the license becomes inactive, you will only be able to open existing files and will not be able to create new files or edit existing files. When an employee role changes to Affiliate/Emeriti, or a student graduates or is no longer an actively enrolled student, the Office 365 desktop apps previously activated on personal devices will become inactive.
